Top 5 Books For Moms

1. Risen Motherhood: Gospel Hope for Everyday Moments by Emily A. Jensen and Laura Wifler

This book came after years of Emily and Laura speaking on their podcast that is dedicated to helping mamas connect their everyday lives with the gospel of Jesus Christ. The book is a refreshing and faith-filled guide for mamas. Risen Motherhood: Gospel Hope for Everyday Moments offers practical insights and biblical wisdom to help mamas navigate the ups and downs of parenting with grace and hope. Each chapter addresses real-life struggles and provides gospel-centered encouragement, making it a great read for mamas seeking to integrate their faith into everyday moments and find deeper meaning and joy in their motherhood journey.

I talk about The Risen Motherhood podcast being one of my favorites in this blog post. As you can tell I’m a huge fan of this ministry as it was the very first motherhood related resource I found when I was pregnant with my first son in 2017!

2. Habits of the Household by Justin Whitmel Earley

The book is an invaluable guide for mamas seeking to infuse their homes with purposeful and faith-centered routines. Justin provides practical strategies for creating habits that nurture family relationships and spiritual growth in Habits of the Household. With relatable (and funny!) stories and actionable advice, this book helps moms establish rhythms that promote a peaceful and loving household. It’s a great read for mamas who want to intentionally shape their family life around core values and deepen their connection with God and each other.

In 2024 I attended Rebekah Lyon’s Parenting and Marriage Retreat with my husband and our friends, and Justin Whitmel was a guest speaker. His writing style is exactly as he is is person — he is SO funny! If you have boys, you have to read this book — while it’s not specifically about parenting boys, a lot of his examples come from being a parent to boys and the examples are VERY relatable…. because boy mamas, boys are crazy right?!

I will make it be known that I have this book as a hardcopy, on my kindle, and as an audiobook. I love it that much that I had to have it to read/listen whenever it was convenient — it really is that good!

3. M is for Mama by Abbie Halberstadt

M is for Mama is a book that I read with friends in our book club. We all loved it and found it a super easy read that offered a lot of encouragement in motherhood. This book is an inspiring and honest guide for mamas navigating the challenges of motherhood with grace and faith. Abbie shares her personal experiences, practical tips, and biblical wisdom to help mothers embrace their role joyfully and intentionally. This book is a great read for mamas seeking encouragement, practical advice, and a fresh perspective on raising children while maintaining a strong connection to their faith and values.

Abby has released a second book Hard Is Not the Same Thing as Bad: The Perspective Shift That Could Completely Change the Way You Mother that I cannot wait to read!

4. Raising Emotionally Strong Boys by David Thomas and Raising Worry-Free Girls by Sissy Goff

Both of these books are incredible reads for mamas seeking to understand and support their children’s emotional development, offering practical strategies and heartfelt encouragement. I started with Raising Emotionally Strong Boys when I had just the two boys and it was such a good book to read as a mom of boys. There are so many things as a woman that I don’t naturally understand when it comes to boys, and this book has been a tremendous help to navigating emotions that I’m not familiar with. Once I had my daughter, I knew I had to get Raising Worry-Free Girls and it is just as good!

Raising Emotionally Strong Boys equips mothers with practical insights into nurturing resilience and emotional intelligence in their sons. David combines psychological expertise with real-world examples, offering strategies to help boys navigate challenges and express their emotions healthily. For mamas raising boys in today’s complex world, this book provides invaluable guidance on fostering confidence and empathy.

Raising Worry-Free Girls addresses the unique challenges girls face, from anxiety to self-esteem issues. Sissy, drawing from her experience as a counselor, offers compassionate advice and actionable tips to empower mamas in supporting their daughters’ emotional well-being. With a focus on building resilience and fostering a positive self-image, this book serves as a reassuring companion for mothers navigating their daughters’ journey to emotional strength.
