As a Nashville photographer, I absolutely love the opportunity to travel for sessions. Whether it’s for a retreat, workshop, or being hired to capture special moments, creating imagery in a location that is outside of my norm truly fills my creative cup. This Charleston beach maternity session was no exception — and seriously, I will take any excuse to go to South Carolina. This charming city, with its rich history, stunning architecture, and beautiful beaches, never fails to leave me in awe!

Every corner of Charleston has a story to tell, and it’s no wonder that it is a favorite destination for photographers and travelers alike. One of the things I love most about Charleston is its proximity to some of the most beautiful beaches on the East Coast. They provide the most simple, yet breathtaking backdrop for photos.

The images from this Charleston beach maternity session are from Alex Smith’s (lovedaphnemae) Magically Mundane workshop. If you don’t know Alex, she is someone you need to know! She truly is such an inspiration in all areas of my life. She shares all about her love for the Lord, photography, motherhood, homesteading, homeschool, nourishing the body, and non-toxic living — all things that bring me so much joy!

Something you will find with Alex’s sessions is that there is always beauty in the most simplest of moments. We simply walked along the shoreline with the gentle waves lapping at our feet. There were moments of play and and moments of quiet that captured the family’s genuine interactions and love for one another.

Maternity photography is always a special experience, but there is something uniquely magical about capturing these moments on a beach. The never ending ocean, the sound of the waves, and the soft sand create the most peaceful setting that perfectly complements the beauty of pregnancy.

Charleston Beach Maternity Session

As a Nashville photographer, I am always excited for the opportunity to travel and explore new locations and traveling for this Charleston beach maternity session was a truly magical experience. Outdoor sessions, especially the beach, are a reminder of God’s wonderful creations that He created for us. He provided us with the natural beauty of the ocean, a wide open space to explore, and the opportunity for authentic interactions make to capture timeless memories.
